Congratulations Ann! March Student of the Month
|
|
Ann is a competitive runner who has raced in several
marathons and countless half-marathons, 10K's, and 5K's. After tearing her Achilles Tendon at the end of June 2002,
her doctor told her she would be out of the racing scene for a full year. Ann started Bikram Yoga in September of
2002 as physical therapy to help heal her injury. Her first race back was on New Year's Day 2003 where she won her age group and stunned her friends and doctor with such a speedy recovery. She continued with Bikram Yoga as well as slow running to prepare for the Austin Half Marathon in February. With no hills and no speed work in her training regimen, she was hoping to run the race at an 8-minute mile pace. Surprising even herself, Ann ran the race at a pace of 7 ½ minutes per mile! When she started Bikram Yoga, Ann was only going to continue with classes until her injury healed. Now she is a student for life! She continues to train in preparation for the Boston Marathon. We wish her the best of luck, and know she will go all the way!
