October Student of the Month

I was very shocked when David and Karen asked me to be student of the month. What an honor! I don't feel as though I have a story, I just do and love my yoga! I am not one that has any previous injuries or needed weight loss, I was just simply bored with my gym workouts and wanted to try something new. Boy did I ever find it! As with everyone, I had a terrible first class and probably a terrible first twenty classes, but I truly felt as though this workout was doing so much for me.

As I continued my practice, I became more intrigued with the "lessons" being in taught in class than the actual workout. Learning how each posture helps certain organs, muscles, sleep patterns, systems inside our body, etc. just absolutely fascinated me. Don't get me wrong, the workout kicked my butt (and still does!), but knowing that I am working the inside of my body as well just means so much more to me that the average workout. Bikram Yoga Dallas is my daily escape. It is my time to clear all thoughts from my brain and just focus on my postures… to focus on me. This practice has taught me to be more aware of my priorities in life. It has allowed me to see more of who I am and what I want in life. I know for all of my "yogi" friends you can understand this, but what a challenge it is explaining it to those who have not yet found what we have. We are a lucky group of people and I do not say that lightly.

We all have our reasons for being here and I am grateful for the friends I have made and for the wonderful teachers currently and previously I have had that have brought me to this point in my practice and my life. Here's to many future years together!
